Building context for online students is critical for successful instruction. Students greatly benefit from understanding how individual course lessons fit into the overall subject being studied, and why those lessons are important to understand. VLN’s courses are developed to provide this context and use relatable real-world examples to illustrate concepts.

VLN provides textbooks in physical or digital form for all VLN Essentials courses (based on school and student preference). This mirrors the classroom experience and provides a more authentic academic experience.

In many online learning solutions, students do not have course textbooks, but are provided a section of material followed by questions on that material. Textbooks provide a far greater informational context to students as they progress through the material. They also offer parents and guardians an easy way to review the material with which their students may need additional help.

Reading proficiency is an essential skill for students. By using textbooks in all our courses, VLN maintains reading as a vital component of our solutions.

VLN also offers consumable worksheets for K-3 learners. Worksheets encourage students to work offline, using pen to paper for continued development of fine motor skills.
